Putin: Russia’s grain harvest may reach 134 mln tns in 2020

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s grain harvest may outperform the Agriculture Ministry’s 131 million tonne forecast and reach 134 million tonnes in 2020, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday during his annual news conference.

“We have been having record harvests for the past six years, and this year it will amount to 131 million tonnes, or it may be even a bit higher and stand at 134 million tonnes,” he said.

The ministry also expects the wheat harvest at at least 82 million tonnes in 2020. This means that the 2020 grain and wheat harvest may become Russia’s second best result in modern history after 2017.

In 2019, Russia’s gross grain crop amounted to 121.2 million tonnes and of wheat 74.453 million tonnes.
